Black Diamond Support Network helps the people of Pictou County stand on solid ground in a digital world — with hands-on tech help, fraud prevention education, and a neighbour network that actually shows up.
Small towns get left behind by the digital age — bank branches close, services move online, and the scams get smarter every year. We close that gap, one neighbour at a time.
Patient, jargon-free help with phones, tablets, email, online banking and government services — at workshops and one-on-one sessions where nobody is made to feel behind.
Scam and fraud prevention education built for real life: the phone calls, texts and door-knockers actually targeting Pictou County, and the simple checks that stop them cold.
A standing web of local volunteers and community partners — check-ins, referrals to the right services, and practical help finding the support that already exists around us.
Pictou County was built on coal — mined by people who looked after each other underground and above it. A diamond is what that same coal becomes under pressure and time: the hardest, most enduring thing in the ground.
That's how we see our neighbours. This county has been through mill closures, downturns and storms, and its people are still here, still solid. Our job is to make sure the digital age doesn't leave them behind — it gives them one more way to shine.
“To modernize Westville and future-proof it for the digital age — without leaving a single neighbour behind.”
Black Diamond Support Network is a Nova Scotia community non-profit founded in 2026 and currently completing its society registration. We are built for exactly the kind of community funding that turns small grants into visible, local results.
Project costs with a paper trail: workshop venues and materials, printed plain-language guides people can keep, a loaner-device library for hands-on learning, and transportation so rural residents can actually attend.
Every dollar in is tracked against the program it funded, and we publish plain-language summaries of what was spent and what it did. No overhead empire — a volunteer board, local venues, and receipts for everything.
